The Teresa Group's mission is to advance the dignity and well-being of children and families affected by HIV. Your participation in the Mane Event helps provide the services needed for families affected by HIV. For many children, being affected by HIV can have a negative impact on mental health. Many of the families associated with The Teresa Group face ongoing challenges related to health, immigration, poverty, housing and the ongoing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV; these factors can negatively impact a child's sense of wellbeing as well as their current and future mental health. At The Teresa Group, families find a safe space, where they connect with a peer network to ensure that they are not alone and can reach out to others who ‘get it’. Our team of social workers offer a comprehensive array of mental health supports, responding to issues of stigma, isolation, self-esteem and stress. To ease the impact of the poverty faced by many of our clients, we provide a broad range of practical supports, including; diapers, newborn supplies, emergency food supplies, grocery cards, transit tokens, new and gently used clothing.
